YMCA Camp Erdman Magic

Mention the name YMCA Camp Erdman and for many islanders it conjures up warm memories of “small kid time,” when the highlight of the school year was the stay at “Camp.” Still are the rustic cabins as are the memories of new friendships made, being away from home and the great outdoor experience.

The specialness of YMCA Camp Erdman is not limited to Kama‘aina. For those who serve in the military, YMCA Camp Erdman is home to Operation Purple, a week-long summer camp for children of deployed parents.

Even Hollywood recognizes the magic of YMCA Camp Erdman. Experts at creating magic themselves, Hollywood chose YMCA Camp Erdman as one of its main locations for the filming of the television series “Lost.

YMCA Camp Erdman once again proved itself to be a magic location when hundreds of people from the community gave of their time and sweat to create a KaBOOM! playground at the site. Input from children was invited during the design process, resulting in a playground made of natural and recycled materials.

Today YMCA Camp Erdman serves over 20,000 people annually through our environmental education and leadership curriculum, family and resident camps, as well as our numerous international and mainland group programs. Camp continues to be an inclusive organization serving children, youth, men and women of all ages, faiths and backgrounds, truly a magical place for all.
