History:
Since 1967 Camp Erdman has been offering the Environmental Education Program to students from schools throughout the state. This program, a joint venture with the State of Hawaii Department of Education, provides an educational and unique camping experience for thousands of students.
Programming:
Our program is typically three days and two nights featuring daytime classes, evening programs and a final activity on the day of departure. Schools are able to choose from over 20 classes and activities to participate in while at camp.
Daytime Classes:
Archery, Geology, Orienteering, Swimming, Beach Ecology, Group Challenge, Bird Study, Cooperative Games, The Beast, Kamani Nut Necklaces, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Map Masters, Botany, Mauka Hike, Critter Safari, Endangered Species, Nature Art, Animal Adaptations
Evening Programs:
Action-Auction, Astronomy, Camp Scavenger Hunt, Invention Convention, Liars Club, Movie, Night Explorers, or Science Fair
Final Activity:
Predator/Prey, International Games, Olympics, Service Project
Rates:
Rates include Lodging, Facilities, Meals, Evening Snacks, and Program Services. These rates are applied during the academic school year and on week days only. (Day use program rates available upon request.)
Staff:
Camp Erdman's program instructors have backgrounds in education and/or experience working at camps, and most importantly, a true passion for working with children. All program instructors are CPR/First Aid, and Lifeguard certified and many hold program specific certifications as well. We strive to achieve a multi-cultural dimension to the camp by staffing a diverse group of instructors from all over the world.
