Larry Bush, YMCA President and CEO, to Retire
YMCA President and CEO Larry Bush recently announced his retirement, effective December 31, 2010 after 40 years of service to the YMCA. “Larry has led the YMCA of Honolulu through a period of extraordinary membership growth, six solid years of financial success and strengthened staff development programs and relationships with key community organizations that transformed the organization,” commented Jim Yates, Chairman of the YMCA of Honolulu Board of Directors. He will be missed at the office every day, but he plans to stay active and committed to the work of the YMCA in the years to come. Click for additional information.

Register Your Keiki for A+
Summer is going strong with sunny skies and activity-filled days, but the school year will arrive before you know it. Have you already started looking at after school options for your keiki? The YMCA of Honolulu offers A+ after school programs at 47 sites across the island, focusing on the development and learning of each child. We are offering a new program at select sites called “Food & Fun” which offers nutrition and physical activity education, in addition to homework time, indoor and outdoor games and activities.

Get Energized with Zumba!
Are you part of the Zumba craze or looking to try a Zumba class for the first time? Then visit your local YMCA branch and see the variety of Zumba classes offered. This July we are offering three instructor training workshops for Zumba Basic, Zumba Toning, and AquaZumba. We will also be hosting one Zumba Master class. So if you’re ready to have a fun workout, make the YMCA of Honolulu your first stop!
