Code of Conduct

At the Y, we expect staff, members and guests to behave in accordance with our mission and values, respecting the rights and dignity of others. We demonstrate Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty by:
  • Speaking in respectful tones, refraining from the use of vulgar or derogatory language and dressing appropriately;
  • Resolving conflicts in a respectful, honest and caring manner;
  • Respecting others by refraining from intimate behavior in public;
  • Respecting the property of others;
  • Creating a safe, caring environment free of weapons and firearms;
  • Participating in programs to build healthy spirit, mind and body; and
  • Never engaging in the use, sale, dispensing or possession of illegal drugs or the unsanctioned use of alcohol on YMCA premises.
Adherence to the YMCA Code of Conduct is essential. Noncompliance may result in suspension or termination of YMCA membership privileges.

YMCA Member Policies

Attire

Athletic shoes and shirts must be worn during exercise in all workout areas. Proper swimsuits must be worn when using swimming pools.

AWAY Program

The YMCA of Honolulu participates in the nation-wide AWAY program, allowing out-of-state YMCA members 14 visits per year. (Always Welcome at YMCAs).  More than 2,000 YMCAs across the country and around the world will welcome you into their facilities as a YMCA member with your membership card. Some fees may apply at some locations. To locate a YMCA anywhere in the United States, call 1-888-333-9622, or check the YMCA of the USA web site.

We do offer the AWAY Pass to current members of YMCA's outside of the United States. For verification-sake, please bring your current YMCA membership card, a valid photo ID, and a confirmation letter (on your home branch YMCA's letter head; signed by the Membership Director or designate) stating that you are a current member in good standing.

Child Supervision

Children under age 13 must be supervised by an adult in all areas of the facility, or they must be enrolled in a supervised program activity. For their safety, children are not permitted in some areas of the fitness facility. Check with the Welcome Center at each branch for details.

Child Watch

Some of the YMCA branches provide free child watch for members during specified hours. Hours and rates for non-members differ at each facility. Contact your YMCA branch for hours and rates.

Family Memberships

Family memberships are the most economical way to join.
  • Family memberships include two adults and dependent children (18 years of age or younger) living at the same address. 
  • Single family memberships include one adult and dependent children (18 years of age or younger) living at the same address.

Food and Beverages

Food and drink are not permitted in the workout areas or locker rooms, except water. Vending machines and eating areas are available at each branch.

Guest Policy

Guests are welcomed at the YMCA. Guests must be accompanied by a member and have a picture ID. Contact your YMCA branch for specific guest policies.

Lockers

Lockers are available for rent or available for day use by members and guests. Bring your own lock and remove it at the end of each visit. Items left overnight will be removed from the locker room and placed in Lost and Found. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items. To rent a locker, please sign up at the Welcome Center.

Membership Card

Your membership card is valuable and important. You must present it each time you enter the building for access to the facility and when you register for special programs. Lost cards may be replaced for a nominal fee.

Membership Payment Options

No contract hassles! Payment options include: Monthly Bank or Credit Card Draft or Annual Payment Plan.

Membership (Health & Wellness) & EFT Cancellations

Must provide 30 days written notice prior to my last expected bank draft to cancel a monthly EFT membership.

Smoking Policy

All YMCA facilities are smoke-free environments.
