Excited to Welcome You Back...Soon

As we await Governor David Ige's approval for health and fitness facilities to reopen on June 19, know that our YMCA is ready and we have done everything possible to ensure our facilities meet the highest standards for hygiene and safety.

We are ready to welcome you all back...safely!

Please watch our video recapping how our YMCA pivoted our services to help our community during this pandemic crisis. And see a sneak preview of how we have been preparing our Branches to safely reopen.

Top Priorities: Safety, Social Distancing & Sanitation

Using the strict guidelines of the CDC, we have new policies and procedures in place and have made modifications to our facilities - all focused on safety, social distancing and sanitation. As we get closer to our reopening date, we’ll provide more details, but here is an outline of what you may expect:

Health Checks: Members, staff and program participants will have their temperature checked and answer health screening questions before being allowed to check in. Those who have a temperature of 100.4 or more; or experienced any of the following, will not be allowed to check in and enter the Y:

  • Fever in the last 48 hours;
  • Cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell;
  • Traveled off-island in the last 14 days; or
  • Been in close contact with anyone exposed to or diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

Masks: Masks will be required to be worn at all times in the facility unless actively engaged in exercise.

Social Distancing

Phased Reopening with Reduced Capacity: We have prepared a safe environment to welcome our members back that includes initially phasing in specific areas, services and amenities of low risk as we grow back to full capacity. A full list of open services/amenities during Phase 1 is coming, pending final directives from our State and City officials.

To promote safe social distancing, we are temporarily limiting facility entry to advance reservations only which can be made online or by phone. More details are coming!

Virtual YMCA: Initially during Phase 1, we will not be offering in Branch group exercise classes. Instead, we have increased our Virtual YMCA on our website to include more than 80 on-demand group exercise classes lead by top national and local Y Branch instructors. When we reopen, we will add scheduled live streaming classes! Try out our Virtual YMCA here.

In Branch group exercises will be added during later Phases pending State and City directives and when we can do so safety.

Rearranged Fitness Machines, Strength Training and Weightlifting Equipment: We have moved and spaced out all machines and equipment to allow for at least 6 feet of social distancing.

Social Distancing Signage: Has been placed throughout our Y Branches on floors and walls to guide members and staff to keep at least 6 feet apart.

Hand Washing: Multiple hand sanitation dispensers are located throughout the Branch and proper hand washing technique signage is in all restrooms.

Approved CDC Spray Cleaner and Paper Towels: Will be available throughout the facility and by machines and equipment. While staff will be cleaning all high touch areas frequently; all members will be asked to clean equipment before and after use.

Increased Sanitation: We will be deep cleaning our branches daily, as well as increased sanitation and disinfectant efforts throughout each day.
