The Head Lifeguard operates under the close supervision of the Aquatics Director and will also assist the Aquatics Specialist when needed. The Head Lifeguard ensures the safety of patrons in and around the pool by monitoring swimmers and enforcing all pool rules. The Head Lifeguard also performs professional duties such as pool maintenance, assisting in the scheduling of lifeguards, is available to substitute for absent lifeguards or vacant shifts when necessary, and ensures that all lifeguards are fully competent in performing water rescue procedures via drop drills. Pool operator desired. The Head Lifeguard must be mission driven, a problem solver, open minded, and a solution seeker who serves as a representative of the YMCA by providing quality customer service, while carrying out the aquatics policies and procedures of the YMCA.
• Knowledge of life guarding and pool safety
• Knowledge of YMCA swim lesson curriculum
• High school diploma or GED required
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED/Oxygen Administration and First Aid required
• TB clearance required
