Group Leader

Position: Group Leader
Location: Camp Erdman
Salary Range: $10.10/hour
Status: Full Time/non-exempt
GENERAL FUNCTION: 
  •   Under the supervision of the Program Director of Schools and Retreats, Group Leaders facilitate groups in various camp activities, and serve as program leads and role models within the program department.
•    Facilitation areas include: high ropes, teambuilding, environmental education, lifeguarding, archery, and outdoor education activities. Group Leaders act as lead staff within the program department; providing guidance and assistance to Seasonal Program Instructors as needed.
•    During non-program hours, Group Leaders plan and execute projects around camp as needed. Projects include things like curriculum development, equipment/program area restoration and up keep, program planning, and a variety of other tasks as assigned.
•    Types of groups we facilitate for include; schools, church, corporate groups, family reunions, and summer resident camp.
•    Housing and meals are included.

This is a year round, hourly full-time role.
Programming:
•    Facilitate high ropes, low ropes, and teambuilding activities.
•    Facilitate environmental education, and outdoor education activities.
•    Facilitate large and small group games, and evening programs as needed.
•    Lifeguard for aquatics activities.
•    Act as a leader within the program department, and as a resource for Seasonal Program Instructors.
•    Assist in the training of Seasonal Program Instructors.
•    Attend staff trainings and meetings.
•    Other duties and programs as required that pertain to the operation of a camp facility.
•    Use good judgment when leading activities.
Child Development:
•    Be a role model for participants, and develop positive relationships with youth.
•    Provide children with the opportunities to make new friends and learn new activities.
•    Maintain a concern for participant development & growth.
•    Maintain an awareness of health and safety concerns.
•    Ensure that each and every participant is included in the group.
•    Ensure that Camp Erdman is a positive and memorable experience for every participant.

QUALIFICATIONS:   

EDUCATION/TRAINING:
•    High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
•    Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
•    Current lifeguard certification preferred.
•    Previous high ropes training preferred – minimum of ACCT Level 1 certification desired.
•    TB Clearance
EXPERIENCE:
•    Experience working with children required
•    Experience with high ropes and aquatics activities preferred.
•    Experience leading and training staff and/or volunteers preferred.
