Membership Coordinator

Position: Membership Coordinator
Location: Nu'uanu
Salary Range: $11.58 - $17.00/hour
Status: Full Time/Non-Exempt
 GENERAL FUNCTION:

Position is responsible for superior member service & assists with the daily operations of the Welcome Center. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting with the planning, developing, organizing & evaluating all aspects of member & program participant development, in accordance with purposes & policies of the branch/association. Meets the needs of members & community through providing exceptional customer service, improvement of Welcome Center processes, implementation of membership retention strategies, & supervision/training of staff. Promote & model YMCA core values & assist branch in meeting goals. Works under the supervision & guidance of the Membership Director, Associate Executive Director and the
Executive Director.


Essential Duties/Functions:
•    Ensures the needs of the YMCA and its members and program participants are met
•    Assists the Branch Leadership Team to achieve growth, expansion, and retention of the membership and
•    program participation
•    Answers incoming calls / in-person inquiries and refers callers to appropriate Y staff members
•    Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with members, staff, and participants at all
levels.
•    Monitors YMCA email, responds appropriately, and/or forwards emails to appropriate Y staff
•    Provides prompt quality member service in a friendly, timely and professional manner
•    Develops and maintains positive relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and the community
•    Exhibits a positive attitude and behavior consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the YMCA
•    Exemplifies the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
•    Supports the mission and strategic goals of the Association/Branch are met by developing and promoting
strong family values and social values; leadership; healthy lifestyles; sense of community,
international/intercultural relations; and appreciation for environmental concerns.
•    Acts as a team player communicating with all departments
•    Assist in member data collection
•    Other tasks assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Knowledge:

•    People and member service oriented and well organized
•    Ability to learn & be proficient in Word, Excel, and YMCA computer programs (Class, RE, etc.)
•    Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
•    Have a team-oriented attitude and is patient in dealing with others – Speak effectively with people
•    Ability to multi-task under pressure, exercise discretion and independent judgment

Education/Training:
•    High School Diploma / GED Equivalent
•    Able to be CPR/AED, First Aid trained
•    TB clearance required

Experience:
•    Experience in customer/member service preferred
•    Must be computer literate, accustomed with general office procedures, filing, answering phones,
•    photocopying and cash handling.
•    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with in a diverse cultural environment
•    2 years’ experience in customer/member service required
•    2 years’ experience in supervisory position preferred
•    2 years’ experience in cash handling position preferred
