Free Kupuna Meals & Wellness Activities Program
Are you 60 years of age or older and looking for a way to make new friends and socialize while enjoying free nutritious meals and wellness activities? Thanks to our partnership with the City and County of Honolulu Elderly Affairs Division and generous donors, we're offering these FREE programs:
Kupuna Food & Fun
Free Senior Congregate & Recreational Dining Program
YMCA Locations:
Kaimuki-Waialae, Kalihi, Leeward, Mililani, Nu'uanu, Windward, and Waianae
What:
- Join us for lunch and socializing, enrichment, and physical activity classes with your fellow kupuna (seniors) who are 60 years of age or older.
- In addition to lunch, participation is required in our fun social and recreational activities that provide benefits such as wellness and nutritional education. Our program provides:
- Healthy and delicious hot meals.
- Health and wellness program activities.
- Opportunity to socialize, have fun and make new friends.
Who:
- Must be 60 years and older. Due to limited space, registration is required.
Cost: Free, but donations are accepted!
When: 11 am - 1 pm: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Hot lunches are provided on Monday, Wednesday. Lunch must be consumed at the Y Facility with participation in Wellness Activities.
How to Register and Reserve Your Spot:
- Fill out a City and County of Honolulu Consumer Registration Form. This form just needs to be completed once, and can be done when you attend your first Kupuna Meals and Wellness program, OR you may download the form here, complete ahead of time, and bring the form with you to your first visit.
- Reserve your meal & activity spot BY TUESDAY at 8 am, at least one week before by using any of these options:
- Online: Complete this form and specify which day you would like to attend, OR
- Phone: Leave a message at 808-753-5348. In your message,
state your name, phone number, and the branch/days you would like to
participate, OR
- Example: My name is Joe Aloha. My phone number is 808-531-9622. I would like to make a reservation for the Kupuna Meals & Wellness program at Kaimuki on Monday, February 7, Wednesday, February 9. and Friday, February 11.
- In-Person: If you are already attending, on Mondays, let our YMCA staff member know what days you would like to attend the following week.
If you are NOT a Y Member:
- Complete a one-time initial enrollment and waiver form, then submit request for a reservation.
Kupuna Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention
Who: Open and FREE to the public for anyone 60 years or older only.
What: Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention is taught by certified instructors and is an evidence-based program incorporating tai chi principles for improving health and wellness. Based on Sun style tai chi, it has gentle flowing movements that are easy to learn, safe, and enjoyable for all levels. No prior experience is required, and this form can also be modified to a seated position.
YMCA Location: Leeward Y: Tue and Thu 9:00am-10:00am
How To Register
YMCA Members:
- Reserve your spot in MotionVibe up to 2 days in advance of the class starting at 8 am.
Non-Y Members:
- Complete a one-time initial enrollment and waiver form, and then you can reserve your spot up to 2 days in advance of the class you wish to attend starting at 8 am, using one of these options:
- In-Person: If you are at a YMCA branch, stop by the Welcome Center; or
- Online: Complete this form and specify which class you would like to attend; or
- Phone: Leave a message at 808-678-4296. In your message, state your name, phone number, email, and the branch/date/time of the class you would like to attend:
- Example: My name is Joe Aloha. My phone number is 808-531-9622 and my email is Joe@gmail.com. I would like to make a reservation for the Tai Chi Class at Mililani on Saturday, February 5 at 8:50 am.
- For Non-Y members, reservation is not guaranteed until you have received a call or email confirming your spot.

Health Plan Memberships for Seniors
Silver&Fit® Program
Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage (HMO) members can be a part of the YMCA through the Silver&Fit® program. Eligible members can receive a free membership at the YMCA of Honolulu where you’ll have access to cardiovascular equipment, free weights, resistance training equipment and weekly fitness classes. You will also be invited to participated in social activities at the club and within the community. For more information about Senior Advantage, go online or call toll free 1-800-805-2739 (TYY 1-877-447-5990), 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week.
Renew Active Program
United Healthcare Medicare Advantage members whose plan include the Renew Active program can receive a free membership at the YMCA of Honolulu.
