Middle and High School
Due to COVID-19, in-person College Camp will not be available for Summer 2020. However,
our great mentors and Vistas are putting together a
virtual College Camp experience! More details including
dates, times, topics, virtual social activities will be available soon. We also
plan to schedule events in the fall with your respective schools
and on your respective islands.
COLLEGE CAMP 1: RISING JUNIORS - FIRST YEAR PARTICIPANTS
College Camp is a week-long leadership and college access experience for Hawaii`s high school students from underserved communities. The program supports, motivates, and encourages students to pursue higher education post-graduation. Each week is filled with fun, challenges, and learning opportunities that help individuals thrive.
Students will participate in a community service project, discover their strengths, set personal goals, tour a minimum of 4 college campuses, learn about the admissions process, and engage with professionals in the fields they’d like to pursue.
Through the activities at Y College Camp, the students will discover more about themselves, experiencing independent living in a college environment, and gain a better understanding of what they need to accomplish in high school to attend college.
COLLEGE CAMP 2: RISING SENIORS - Returning Students Only
College Camp 2 is a week-long continuation program. In College Camp 2, we focus on the admissions process. Workshops include how social media can impact your application, completing the FAFSA, applying for scholarships, writing a strong personal statement, interview skills, and choosing the right school. Of course the program would not be complete without a service project, tons of activities, fitness, and lots of laughs.
