A+ After School Program

During the school year, our YMCA provides A+ Afterschool programs at 60 Hawaii State Department of Education school sites throughout our island, including these 9 DOE sites on the Windward side: 

Ahuimanu Elementary

Ka'elepulu Elementary

Kailua Elementary

Kapunahala Elementary

Ka'ohao Public Charter School

Malama Honua Public Charter School

Maunawili Elementary

Pu'ohala Elementary

Waimanalo Elementary*

*(pending, must reach 20 participant minimum to run program)

A+ runs from school release to 5:30pm and the program includes time for homework, snack & organized play time. Registration is available online or registration forms are available at the Windward YMCA.

School Break Day Camp 'Intersession'

When school is out, the "Y" is in! We offer Fall, Winter and Spring and Summer Day Camps during school breaks for grades K-5th. Day Camps are available on most days when DOE elementary schools are closed with a full day (7am-5:30pm) option. Activities include recreational sports & games, STEM activities, cooking, arts & crafts, dance and site events.

Teen Programs

Na Alaka'i

Continue your child's YMCA journey by joining our program for middle school youth. Na Alaka'i is specifically designed for current 6th, 7th & 8th graders with excursions and daily activities that include leadership development, team building, sports & games, service projects, art and more. Come meet new friends, learn new skills and have fun in a safe and comfortable environment during school breaks in fall, winter, spring and summer.

We're Hiring! Come Join Our Y Team!

We're hiring staff for A+ Group Leaders & A+ Program Aides on the Windward side. Lead and supervise kids in a variety of activities including outdoor play, homework help, arts and crafts and sports/games.
  • Pay starts at $13/hour and paid training is provided.
  • You'll enjoy great hours with a flexible schedule: Mon/Tue/Thur/Fri- 1:45-5:30pm, Wed 12:15-5:30pm.

Y Adventure Guides

Adventure Guides is a program based on building strong relationships between fathers/parents and their children. The program is open to keiki ages 5-12 and their parent/father/caregivers. While some events are father/child only, most are open to all. The group gets together throughout the year for hiking, camping, ocean activities, sporting events and more! Cost is $50 for each participant for the calendar year (January-December). You may print out and mail or drop off the registration form with fees to the Windward YMCA and our Adventure Guides volunteer coordinator will contact you shortly.
