At the Y, After School Programs are more than just kid-watching. It's about engaging your children during those critical hours keeping them safe and thriving.
Through a partnership with the Department of Education, the YMCA of Honolulu provides after school care for nearly 7,000 children in grades K-6 through A+ programs at public schools across Oahu.

Capacity Limits Due To COVID-19
Minimum and maximum enrollment may apply due to COVID-19 capacity limits, and at some school sites, capacity may be temporarily limited due to current staffing challenges. Please note that our Y, like many other businesses and organizations, has been aggressively trying to recruit and hire additional qualified staff members, in what continues to be a very challenging job market. We have implemented a recruitment center to address the industry-wide staffing shortage and hope to fill these A+ Afterschool positions as soon as possible. In addition, we have been offering a $250 new hire bonus, as well as referral bonuses to our employees and Y members and program participants whose referrals we hire.
The monthly fee for the 2022-23 school year is $200/month.
Monthly fees are due on the 1st program day of each month. Your first month’s program fee will be due on the first A+ program day. The fee is set by the Department of Education and may be subject to change if your child’s school implements a blended school schedule.
For general questions, please call 808-678-4296, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Need Help Paying for A+?
A+ Tuition Subsidies
The State Department of Human Services (DHS) provides funding for subsidies to cover the cost of the monthly Afterschool A+ program fee to assist families in need. We have been informed that DHS has adjusted the eligibility schedule, increasing the maximum income eligibility levels.
Families who previously exceeded the income eligibility may now possibly qualify for this subsidy. The subsidy will cover the full monthly program fee.
Please use this income eligibility estimation calculator to check if your family may qualify. Please note that this calculator will provide just an estimate and does not guarantee eligibility.
Enter the number of people in your household and your maximum yearly gross income from all sources.
The application deadline for each month is the 10th for the eligible family subsidies to be applied to and start the following Month; and will run through the rest of the school year.
