A+ After School Program
At the Y, After School Programs are more than just kid-watching. It's about engaging your children during those critical hours keeping them safe and thriving.
Through a partnership with the Department of Education, the YMCA of Honolulu provides after school care for nearly 7,000 children in grades K-6 through A+ programs at public schools across Oahu.
2021 A+ Registration
Hawaii Department of Education schools are transitioning from full distance learning to blended schedules. Our Afterschool A+ Program staff have been following directives from our designated schools as to when to restart the A+ Program.
If your child’s school has informed you that your child is scheduled for in-person instruction this quarter, please contact the associated YMCA branch for information on the start of your school's A+ Program.
[Note: If your child needs a safe place to continue their distance learning on the days they are not scheduled to be in school for in-person classes, you can enroll them in our YMCA Learning Centers here.]
A+ Registration forms that have been submitted are being processed and confirmation notifications sent out. Additional forms that parent/guardians will need to review and sign are the Y’s COVID-19 Policies and Procedures and Waivers:
- Y’s COVID-19 Policies and Procedures
- Y's COVID-19 Waiver Release Form
- Waiver & Release Of Liability Agreement For Youth Programs
While schools are on a blended schedule, HIDOE has set daily rates for the Afterschool A+ Program. The daily rates will be used in calculating monthly invoices based on the number of days students are scheduled to be in school for in-person instruction.
The daily rate for March is $7.00, April is $5.50 and May is $6.00 per day.
Haven’t registered yet? The HIDOE’s A+ Parent Handbook with registration forms are posted for parents/guardians who have not registered as yet. Please download and print the 2020-21 A+ Registration Packet with Photo Waiver and EFT Draft Authorization below.

If you do not have access to a printer, you may pick up a packet at your designated YMCA Branch. See below for YMCA Branch information.
When completing the registration forms, please make sure the application is complete. Incomplete applications may delay your child’s start date.
