Building Stronger Family Bonds

Serving families has always been at the heart of the Y. We are a place where they can find respite from social, economic and educational challenges, and learn how to overcome them. We have a fundamental desire to provide opportunities for every family to build stronger bonds, achieve greater work/life balance, and become more engaged with their communities.

Adventure Guides at Windward Y

Adventure Guides programs launch parents and their children on a journey of discovery, with the child as the explorer and the parent as the guide. Adventure Guides encourages parents to get to know your kid while your kid is still a kid with group activities such as games, crafts, songs, stories, skits, ceremonies and outdoor pursuits such as camping, hiking and swimming.  The one-on-one time in a fun, special environment builds important bonds through shared experiences.

Family Camp at Camp Erdman

Take the entire family on a mini getaway at a very affordable price. Held at Camp Erdman, family camp is the perfect place to reconnect and spend quality time with your family, while enjoying a fun and relaxing experience in the great outdoors.

Family Volunteer Time at Ulupo Heiau at Windward Y

The Y's Togetherhood program connects people from all backgrounds to plan and carry out volunteer projects that address a real need in their community.

The Windward Y's Togetherhood Project is right in our back yard at Ulupo Heiau. In conjunction with fellow non-profit Kauluakalana, we work to honor and preserve this sacred space.

Togetherhood work days activate volunteers to the Heiau and lower kalo or lo'i patches, where we do activities such as pulling invasive weeds, moving rocks, spreading mulch, harvesting kalo, and cleaning up the area. Togetherhood is a quarterly event that is open to the entire community.
