Severe Weather Update: Hurricane Lowell

Update #1: Monday, September 7, 2026, 6:30 p.m. HST

All YMCA of Honolulu Branches and Programs Closed Tuesday, September 8

In response to the potential impacts of Hurricane Lowell, and in alignment with official State of Hawaiʻi and City and County of Honolulu announcements, all YMCA of Honolulu branches and programs will be closed on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

This closure aligns with the City’s official guidance to avoid unnecessary travel while overnight conditions associated with Lowell are assessed. It will also allow our teams to inspect facilities, address any storm-related impacts, and determine which locations can safely reopen on Wednesday, September 9.

The closure includes:

  • All YMCA branches and facilities, including all programs, swim lessons, early learning centers, and kūpuna programs
  • A+ Afterschool Programs
  • Y Teen Club Afterschool Programs
  • Pali Nuʻuanu YMCA Preschool
  • Leeward YMCA Preschool
  • Kailua YMCA Preschool

Central YMCA short-term accommodations will remain open for current guests.
