The Hawai‘i Youth & Government (YAG) program provides middle and high school students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, explore government and advocacy, and represent their communities through local, state, and national experiences.
The Youth & Government program helps teens to:
Legislature
Students create, debate, and vote on bills focused on issues impacting Hawai‘i. Students attend training and workshops to help prepare them to become part of the YAG Conference experience.
Changemakers
Students collaborate to design projects that address challenges within their communities. Selected projects may receive funding support and opportunities for national presentation.
Youth Advocacy
Students engage in local, state, and national efforts to raise awareness and advocate for issues that matter to them.
Need-based financial assistance is available.
Visit our Youth & Government website for current program information, registration details, upcoming events, and opportunities to get involved. For teens in grades 9-12, our YAG program offers students the opportunity to find their voice and develop skills as community leaders. With several different pathways, students can advocate for change, build skills, and develop friendships.
Volunteer as an Advisor to support our Youth & Government teens as they discover more about finding their voice and making a difference in their community. Gain the skills to lead, support others, and develop network opportunities.
