Longer camp experience for teens to grow into leaders

At YMCA Camp Erdman summer leadership camp, teens explore the outdoors, experience magic moments, learn teambuilding, and get the skills needed to become a leader at camp, among peers, and in life.

Camp Leaders in Training (LIT)

Leaders in Training spend their mornings participating in critical-thinking and problem-solving activities that help them develop into leaders at camp and beyond. Under mentorship from the Teen Programs Leader,  LITs will have the opportunity to work with our day campers and will complete a service project around camp to allow them to leave their mark on camp in a tangible way. LIT participants are encouraged to continue growing as leaders by progressing to the Counselor Assistant (CA) program in future summers.

Camp Assistant (CA) Program

The volunteer, application-only CA program is a great way for teens to gain leadership skills and experience in youth development, and make new friends along the way! The 3-week teen leadership program starts with 1 week dedicated to learning what working in a camp environment is all about, followed by 2 weeks of hands-on experience in cabin. CAs are still campers with us and must abide by the same safety procedures put in place by Camp Erdman. There is no requirement to have attended Camp Erdman previously as a camper to apply for this program. If accepted, your teen will walk away ready to take on real world working challenges as a leader (and will hopefully wish to return to camp as a counselor once they are of age).
